i want out and i want out now!
I hate nursing. You wouldn't think so by the things I write about here, but that is just writing about things I experience - and NOT SO MUCH WHAT I GO THRU! Last Sunday was the last straw. I was going to write about it but I don't want to. It's just negative energy recycled. Anyone want to hire a soon to be ex-nurse? Just let me know. I'm really a jill of all trades. I worked with children teaching computers, lots of office experience, computer literate, worked at a gas station, a restaurant, nanny, maid, personal masseuse ... can you tell I'm really desperate?

Maybe it's all a temporary crisis - maybe you need a little break. There can never be enough nurses. In the UK our nurses are overworked and underpaid. Guess you guys in the US have the same problem.

a break sounds like a good idea, after today i'm taking two and a half weeks off from my job. i'll either go back refreshed and ready for action or promoted!! otherwise, do what your heart and mind tell you, don't sell yourself short, follow your ambitions and don't take any old job that you'll want to move from in a years time, wait for the right one to find you!

Bummer that the US social security system is not as good as the Dutch, otherwise you could go in unemployment benefit for a while to figure out your next move. :-( Time to check out the want ads. PS: I've changed my layout into 'stairs'. melikes it very much.

*huggles* fancy helping me take over the world? Why not write a book or something? You always seem to have a lot to say

write your autobiography; i did mine last year, very personal. only one other person even knows it exists (ok, until now!) and has seen it. bet you can guess who that is as well! if you want to be a masseuse then there's plenty of tension in my back and neck you could help to get rid of too.

I agree that you may need a break, however, I do feel that sometimes these things happen and then lend us a new determination to explore other facets of our life. As a nurse, you love the aspect of taking care of people etc. You can definitely translate that into other avenues... I say to explore those other talents...writing, creative things, different aspects of health care. Unfortunately, the bullshit of politics, weak minded people et al exists in every avenue... just to a lesser degree in some cases...and in some, even more. I feel for ya'!

just writing to second some of those comments already. i doubt you or i could afford to just jump really. the other day you posted about doing eight hours overtime - i suggest you do minimum hours for a while and explore your undoubted creative abilities. as i have found out -work / life balance is all important. any chance of a vacation? take care.

Do you really hate nursing or is it just the bad experiences you have to go through at times? Perhaps it is time to think about going into a specialist field of nursing. Have a rest from it - go on a holiday! Then rethink. It sounds like you really wouldn't have any trouble getting another job.

Can you find a nursing position that's less demanding so you can take a break and then come back to your regular nursing gig refreshed? If not and you want to quit altogher, I think you should become a dominatrix. It's high paying and your clientele will never reveal your identity since they're all high-powered business men with wives. Oops, somehow this post became about my alternative job fantasy, not yours. I apologize. Maybe you should try landscaping? It's creative and contributes to the beautification of the world.
